Blog
Welcome to the footnote¹ blog. Our goal each day is to examine a verse and give a short summary in commentary form or simply an encouraging note to help you remain faithful to God throughout the week. Either way we hope that the footnote¹ blog will comfort you through God's word and give you a better understanding of His will.
Joshua
Life Is Full of Choices
Monday, February 13, 2017Joshua 24.14-15 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."¹
¹Life is full of choices. For example, you made the choice to read this blog. Concerning our verse, the Jews were presented with choices as well. Joshua exhorted the people to make the most important choice in their life: to serve the true and living God. Their service was to be driven by sincerity and faithfulness which included putting away all false gods. Notice too that Joshua was prepared to serve the Lord even if no one else would. What about us? Will we serve Christ in sincerity and in faithfulness? Will we choose to put away sin in our life? Are we willing to make this choice even if no one else will? What choices will you make this week?
